Forestation in Zanskar
This forestation project was born from the will of the local population of Zanskar, which makes it possible to sustainably reforest the targeted region with
local species such as WILLOW in order to fight against global warming.
This project also aims to raise awareness among zanskarpas about the sustainable management of the ecosystem through a participatory and sustainable approach to the project. Zanskar is a region in the far northwest of India in the state of Jammu/Cashmere. Located in the highest populated valley of the Himalayas, it has peaks sometimes reaching 7,000 meters above sea level while the lower valleys are between 3,500 and 4,000 meters. The winter is very harsh there and lasts 8 months with abundant snowfall but in regression due to global warming.

In 2021/2022, our association was able to raise €3,500 thanks to generous donations from a godfather and godmother in order to realize the forestation project requested by the local population of the villages of Mune/Reru in Zanskar to fight against global warming.
Three thousand five hundred willows were distributed to the zanskarpas who undertook to plant them themselves with the help of Lama Dorjay. In schools, the project allowed teachers to raise awareness among schoolchildren about global warming and environmental preservation.
This project will be renewed in 2022/2023 thanks to new funding of €4,200 in total.
